Transport | Planting | Maintenance

Each purchase of a Kwanza pot is a commitment to preserving the art-piece which it is.

Due to our 'made to order' policy, the delivery time of any piece is 3-5 weeks, subject to weather conditions.

Prior to orders being collected from our studio, all our pots are washed, bubble-wrapped & secured in a wooden crate & placed on a pallet. Upon inspection & receipt of the order, the client is responsible for the onward transport of the order.  No claims of damage can be raised after the pots leave our premises.

If you would like to preserve the original colour of the clay the inside and outside of the pot can be coated with a waterproofing product.

Should you wish to plant inside your Kwanza Pot, a drainage hole has been provided on all our pots & it's crucial to provide good drainage.

STEPS:
- Thoroughly wet/soak the inside and outside of pot before
  planting,
- Place small pebbles or large gravel in the base of pot,
- Place a geo-textile (e.g. shadenet) over these small pebbles to
  prevent soil loss when watering,
- Keep soaking the soil as you add soil,
- Leave sufficient headspace near to top of the pot to
  accommodate watering,
- Your pot is now ready to be planted.

Bear in mind that terracotta is naturally porous so the root zone will thankfully be able to 'breathe' through the sidewalls of the pot. This implies that moisture too, will slowly migrate & evaporate from the exterior so, please remember to water your planted pots frequently during the hot, dry months.

Kwanza Pots do not require any particular maintenance. They will develop a uniform patina over time depending on their immediate environment. To clean natural pottery, rub with a brush soaked in soap and water, rinse and then let dry. Marks and chips can be repaired using sandpaper.
